Windows Home Server Toolkit is a free basic remote troubleshooting tool for Windows XP Home, Pro and Vista that allows you publish (home) server changes, troubleshoot connection issues or collect logs data from your client computer for further analysis.
The toolkit includes the connector troubleshooter, publish server wizard plus a command prompt, event viewer, sendlogs executable and a IIS (Internet Information Services) remote access web, in case you want to change more settings directly from the server.
Even though this a tool for a server, Microsoft didn´t forget that these are actually home users (well super home users), so they included on their logs report an "explain" features that tells you actually what the whole bunch of words, codes and number means in the event viewer. The connector troubleshooter interface is friendly as well despite the fact that it has an advanced mode that display what a server IT would like to see.
Windows Home Server Toolkit requires Microsot .Net Framework 2 and Microsoft Installer 3
